A Boy & His Vision Quest

"B-E-A-UUUtiful!"

date: January 8, 2005

I thought your movie was excellent. Great use of effects, I liked the transitions between scenes and especially the drawing style.

The only thing I had to comment on was some of the animation. The scene where the eagle is flying over head and he is running through the forest is a little bit weak in the animations department. You could stand to improve that a little, but I can completely understand where you are coming from (It's difficult to animate a 3D effect on a 2D medium). Great storyling, and great everything.

I liked how the flash had a light and happy feel to it. Good job.

Author's Response:

I am glad you liked, thanks for your review.

Yes, I understand some parts were weak in animation and with more time and more patience I could improve upon it. If I am an old amn and have lots of time I may remake this .. by then people will probably be virtually in the Newground portal within the movies... but oh well.

Thanks agian!!

Pico's Unloaded

"Impresionante (Spanish anyone?)"

submission: Pico's Unloaded
date: October 7, 2004

Yep, definitely awesome. I loved the entire thing, the fight scenes were smooth, it was a great parody, and the ice cream scenes at the beginning and end just tied everything together perfectly.

The only criticism I would offer would be the lack of smooth animation when Pico wiped the blood off his lips. His chin jumped around horribly and it really detracted from my enjoyment of the scene for the first second or two after that.

Otherwise, purely incredible 10's all around except for interactivity (not that it matters, this is a MOVIE, not a game). Good job, just improve some of those really minor details.

Decline of Video Gaming 2

"Ummm, awesome much?"

date: October 7, 2004

Yep, that was great. I loved the video games at the beginning, they were both quality games right in the preloader... that to me is probably the coolest thing I have ever seen. The storyline in it was really good.

The only problem I could see was the slight lacking in the jokes department, other than that its smooth sailing in terms of flash excellence.

10's all around, minus violence and humor, (This is probably the only movie ever to deserve a 10 on interactivity, none of the other ones I know have awesome games right in the preloader). I was impressed.

The Takamori Legend

"I was thoroughly impressed"

date: October 7, 2004

I thought it was quite excellent. Good work on everything. The only suggestions I would have would be to work on the fight scene animation. The comic book style was cool, but it should be either one or the other, meaning either snap shots of the action, or full fighting without the comic effect. If you want to do both, you could have had a full fight scene that took snapshots of it at certain key points, I always think that looks cool.

So overall it was great, the graphics were excellent, the sound was superb, violence a 10, and twas most stylish. Here's a ten for a fractional improvement to your review score.

Fallen Angel: Teaser

"With graphics this good who needs a storyline?"

date: September 18, 2004

That was just awesome. The graphics were absolutely mindblowing. I loved the DVD style menu and the action sequences were incredible. The movie was above par in everything, especially the blood and gore category.

The only complaint I have is that you're going to bother writing a story for it. I'd be completely satisfied with everything the way it is. C'mon, that was awesome, adding a story will just make us have to wait longer. You can just do what a whole bunch of other people do and write some sort of story option in the main menu.

Anyways, wicked nice graphics, wicked cool sound, wicked awesome 911 cameo, and wicked nice animation makes this an instant winner. Good job, keep up the good work/other words of encouragement.

YAAFM 9: Michael Moore

"Bleh"

date: August 31, 2004

Man, this series reminds me of Retarded Animal Babies, and I hate it just as much. Its always the same, you take some celebrity and find quotes and then pick them apart when you don't interpret their meanings correctly.

Moore's point about being afraid of white people is not that he hates white people, its just that he thinks there needs to be a change in how we think. We are always afraid and always keeping someone else down because they are different than us.

Moore does not hate Americans. Moore does not hate America. He simply wishes to see an America that actually carries through with the high morals and democratic standard it pretends to set.

Enough on Moore, on to the reason I don't like the series and, in particular, this installment.

Reason number 1: It isn't funny. It's just plain stupid. I enjoy clever humor, the kind of stuff your average person just wouldn't think about. Situational comedy is funny too. But commentary is dull. Realise you aren't failing here, I was able to sit through the entire thing because I found your points interesting, I just didn't laugh.

Reason number 2: the formulaic simplicity. Don't get me wrong, it isn't that you don't draw or animate well, its just that you don't draw or animate much. The scene never changes, the characters never change, and the rest is just imported pictures.

Reason number 3: Reginold's voice. It mostly fits him, except it fluxuates so much its difficult to hear at points. Try to make his volume more consistent, because he seems to mumble towards the end of any of his long-winded diatribes.

Reason number 4: Advertising. Its cool to advertise textually at the end to fill the space around the replay button. I think I'd even stomach scrolling ads at the bottom during the entire flash. But putting in an advertising bit that you spent time on at the end with full animation?

Reason number 5 (the least important): I didn't quite agree with your verdict. Michael Moore is pretty damn smart if he can gross 100 mil on a docu-drama, and win an award at Cannes with it-- even with near 50% of the country hating him for it.

In conclusion: I'd like to see more of your stuff in the other styles you use. The Paris Hilton FBI thing was pretty good, I like it when you change the scene and characters for a completely different style of flash. It somehow has more humor when you make what appears to be a completely serious flash out of something funny. This flash wasn't funny, the series is clawing desperately to get out of the cold water underneath the thin ice it trod on, and adding Advertising like that just isn't cool.

Prowlies at the River

"Brilliant, yet again"

date: August 27, 2004

Congratulations, you are the best flash artist... EVER!

The art was stunning, the story was excellent, the humor was there, everything was all there. A job well done. The only thing I can think of to work on is to compress a little bit more. I don't really mind how it is anyway, I've got cable.

So, keep up the good work, its awesome, etc.

angel short

"I can see why this is underdog"

submission: angel short
date: August 18, 2004

Because its worth a good review to me. I thought it was an excellent point, nothing is as it seems. And even though I don't really listen to that type of music anyway, I would never dock points just because it was involved in this flash.

Graphics were great, I thought the worm was a really nice touch, it was probably the reason this got underdog, because it was too short to get a really good score, but the worm showed us that you were willing to pay attention to detail, if not make a long flash movie.

Congrats, you've done well.

Author's Response:

I'm underdag? Aha... I see. My first award. -jej-
The worm... well, the screen stayed too long in the same form. So I put a worm there to let things look a bit more alive.

Thank you for your review

The Show

"Well..."

submission: The Show
date: August 18, 2004

It was good for a 2 anyway. I thought it was kind of creative, but I think you just need to improve the graphics a tad before you submit again. The sound quality also could stand some improvement.

Just a little more practice and you can probably make some really decent flashes. Good luck!

The Billy Goats Gruff

"Huzzah!"

date: August 18, 2004

That was great. I used to love that story when I was learning to read. My second favorite, after Charlie the Ugly Caterpillar. ANYway, the flash was great.

I loved how you redid the story, and it combined excellent graphics, excellent sound placement, and an incredibly well re-written story. Nothing but positive for this one.

You deserve the ten, and I suggest you make at least one more movie that remakes these classic childrens books. I'd be absolutely pumped if you knew what Charlie the UC was and if you made a similar remake of that. Anyway, very funny, but I won't spoil it for the next person to watch it.
