Evark

Got hired this week

Posted by Evark Nov. 1, 2009 @ 10:58 PM EST

No more bummin' around jobless. Got hired by Gamestop for seasonal employment. What's cool though, is they'll soon be opening a new store closer to home that I'll probably be able to work full-time at, etc. once I've proven that I'm a badass awesome reliable associate.

Even though nobody cares: I'll be recording myself playing some more music soon. The only reason I haven't is because I broke my D string two days after that last recording and have yet to replace it. Tried doing 'Doesn't Remind Me' by Audioslave the other day, but got frustrated after the third attempt 'cause I keep forgetting the words and/or mess up going from the bridge to the chorus and back to the verse again. But, I've re-acclimated to the squier's thin neck again, so I'll probably record that and toss it up in this newspost somewhat soon.

Im comin to buy something from you

Nov. 2, 2009 | 3:07 PM Evark responds:

I don't have anything for sale yet.

Nov. 2, 2009 | 2:41 PM ChocEliteBar says:

Maybe you should try I Am The Highway instead, the guitar on it shouldn't be too bad for you to at least try.

Also, lmfao@SevenSeize

Nov. 2, 2009 | 3:26 PM Evark responds:

Doesn't Remind Me is REAL easy. Except for the solo, of course, but you can just play the chorus twice through the solo, which is easy enough. The difficulty for me is that there is no transition to the last verse from the chorus when you do that. I haven't figured out the timing to do so... but enough explaining details on an instrument you're not so familiar with. : b

I'm looking at the tabs now, and yea they seem simple enough. Good idea 'cause I've always liked that song.

Nov. 2, 2009 | 3:56 PM Sinitech says:

Do it naked this time.

Or not, but I'm pretty sure everyone would be much more impressed.

Nov. 2, 2009 | 11:32 PM Evark responds:

It wouldn't really matter much because I'm usualy aiming the webcam at or above my shoulders.

Nov. 2, 2009 | 10:41 PM Magical-Zorse says:

I wish I could work at gamestop, the closest one is really far away

Nov. 2, 2009 | 11:39 PM Evark responds:

This isn't even the closest one.

Nov. 4, 2009 | 12:14 AM Sinitech says:

Obvious solution is to do it standing up, regardless of comfort.

Nov. 4, 2009 | 2:32 AM Evark responds:

But the camera's already adjusted for shoulder level when I'm sitting. Standing just means I have to adjust the camera again. Seems needless.

Nov. 4, 2009 | 11:55 AM Lost-Wisdom says:

Hah, Gamestop? Very nice.

How the work load doing for you?

Nov. 4, 2009 | 1:02 PM Evark responds:

I'll let you know next week, but compared to what I was doing over the summer I'm sure this is going to be easy-going.

Nov. 6, 2009 | 12:46 PM Shikamarana says:

Lol, I've applied at two Gamestops. They didn't get back to me :/

I've heard that Gamestop Employees are soulless, hopefully you will be different, right? I mean I probably wouldn't if I was getting paid I'd do anything, but oh well.

Nov. 7, 2009 | 12:36 AM Evark responds:

I'm ridiculously over-qualified for a minimum wage job at retail. Plus, a friend of mine from HS has worked at GameStop for a couple years now; so I got his good recommendation as well.

You believe everything you hear?

Nov. 7, 2009 | 1:12 AM Devilshadow666 says:

do employes there get discounts on games

Nov. 7, 2009 | 1:18 AM Evark responds:

I believe so, used anyway. Plus, if I'm working there I can just kinda buy a used game and return it in 7 days after I've finished it. Fuck that, though, I'm way too into Gears of War 2 to play anything else.

Nov. 9, 2009 | 5:32 PM Malachy says:

congrats on the job!

Nov. 9, 2009 | 10:55 PM Evark responds:

Thanks yo, got trained today. It was... totally uneventful.

Nov. 11, 2009 | 5:32 PM therealanimator says:

congrats you lucky ducky. let us know about how your first day was.

Nov. 12, 2009 | 4:11 PM Evark responds:

Well, I guess I'll expand on the uneventful from above. I wore a t-shirt without thinking, so I had to drive home and come back 40 minutes late with an appropriate shirt (what kind of store doesn't have shirts for their employees?). The Sony rep from our district was there, so I got to play some cool racing games on the PSP and PSP Go, saw how you can dock the PSP Go to a dock and play with your PS3 controller via bluetooth (easily, I might add). Learned about a buncha new upcoming games, and then as I was leaving rented 'Prince of Persia' used for 360, which I must return today.

Level 44! Congratulations. Enjoy your new job.

Nov. 13, 2009 | 4:25 PM Evark responds:

Thanks. Thanks.

Nov. 14, 2009 | 2:42 AM Kwing says:

Wait, you're one of the mods that got phised on a Newgrounds lookalike? DAMN YOU, if you'd been more careful, Elios' thread might still exist!! :'(

Nov. 14, 2009 | 11:35 AM Evark responds:

I wasn't phished. They used my MSN email, posted in NG's MSN thread to gain access to my private email via it's ancient secret-question password-recovery. I'd had gmail and the hotmail account for upwards of 5 years, so it was pretty easy to forget that they were linked to each other.

Nov. 15, 2009 | 3:12 PM Malachy says:

I went to training for the mountain yesterday. No snow yet, but it was an orientation/safety procedures thing. And I got paid for it. I'm getting a book of 10 free tickets this winter if you wanna ski on a non-holiday weekday

Nov. 15, 2009 | 6:30 PM Evark responds:

Abso-fuckin'-lutely... I forget are you staying at Waterville or did you move? Why do I think you did move and you're at Cannon Mtn. or something?

Nov. 16, 2009 | 12:48 PM therealanimator says:

glad to hear it evark and congrats on reaching level 44

Nov. 16, 2009 | 1:48 PM Evark responds:

Thanks, I'm a little more pumped about getting this gold whistle though. Been silver since 2004, basically. Thanks, review spam-fest.

Nov. 16, 2009 | 5:00 PM Malachy says:

I'm still at waterville. I considered cannon, but WV has more beginner trails which makes instructing easy.

Nov. 16, 2009 | 9:31 PM Evark responds:

Ah, that explains my inkling.

Nov. 18, 2009 | 7:09 PM Tateos says:

Both your sig and your header are amazing. Especially for MS Paint.
Congats on level 44, and the job!

Nov. 18, 2009 | 7:19 PM Evark responds:

Hah, thanks. I'm getting sick of this header though, it may be time to update. Either by reverting to my old MSPaint copy of the NG header... or by making an entirely new one. Stay tuned...

Nov. 21, 2009 | 11:35 PM Football4Life13 says:

Congrats on the gold whistle!

Nov. 22, 2009 | 4:06 PM Evark responds:
